iPhone frustrations

I have now had the iPhone for a good 3 weeks and have had a proper chance to get used to it. It is a stunning device in terms of the way it looks, the way it operates and the rich content it supports. HTML email for example that is rendered in the browser style. Simply brilliant web applications that let me post to the blog or do my online banking or view TV schedules etc. Applications that let me contol my PC remotely or listen to and control music from another room. It simply cannot be beaten in some ways.

However it also has some significant faults. It is not a great phone – call quality is average. It is a 2 handed device only. And the biggest problem is of course the software keyboard which is just tricky to use. Don’t get me wrong it is much much better than I thought it would be, but for serious typing it cannot match a Blackberry or other hardware keyboard.

So I am not sure what to do. I would like a slightly smaller, more rugged device with better call quality and reception – but I know I would miss the many rich features of the iPhone.

Before anyone leaves a negative comment or says yeah yeah boring, remember that this site is not just read by you.

This post was done on my iPhone.
