    I bet you are really pissed off at this – amazing insensitivity and naivete – but what we expect from the MoD

    Not really. The MOD needs to be able to attract people from industry if it is ever going to modernise. You have to pay the money to get the best people.

    In addition, Archie’s basic salary is low by industry standards and has a very high bonus element – the payment of the bonus depends on the agency meetings its key targets – so he is rightly incentivised to do a good job.
