My current Vodafone deal ends in December. I had intended to continue on a month-to-month contract (costing £20) but I am tempted by the iPhone 4, which I can get on a 24-month contract with Voda or 3 for £35 a month. So over 24 months I’d be paying £360 over and above what I need on my plan. Then I could sell my current iPhone 4 for £240 so the net cost is only £120, however I am then tied to a 24 month deal. The £240 cash would be handy to put towards an iPad…
I’m happy with Vodafone, but the reception in Ashchurch is pretty poor. Reception at home is fine, but I rarely get 3G unless I go to a city. I’ve got 3 reception at home, and in St Athan, and in Ashchurch, though it’s not great at home. Tricky decision, especially as my only experiences with 3 customer service have been horrendous. And if I did buy an iPad with 3G, would it matter that I didn’t have 3G on the phone..?
Then of course there is Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) which looks like a lovely OS, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus looks a nice (if big) handset. Plus I could get an Android tablet instead of an iPad, although for a nice one with 3G, I’m not sure I’d save much money.
THEN there is the Nokia Lumia 800 running Windows Phone 7, which I had a play with in a shop and is a lovely phone, quality build in a pocket-friendly size. Decisions decisions…
